Hi Beth
Sorry to hear you are having such a hard time.
"Rid" will kill lice but it is not designed to do anything
to eggs. Eggs are glued on with a tough protein that doesn't dissolve
in anything really. There are a few enzyme based products that claim
to break down glue but I am not convinced about them.
Bottom line is that once you get rid of all the live lice the egg
supply will be cut and you will them be able to catch up with them
by brushing, washing and picking them out. Until you are sure you
have stopped the supply you are fighting a loosing battle with eggs.
Most of what you see are empty egg cases, old history.
We concentrate on removing live lice without resorting to poisoning
them. We can get them out easily when they are trapped in a mixture
of slippery oil and NITMIX which makes them very inactive. You will
slide out any lice, big or tiny, so they can't keep adding more
eggs, won't take long to clear them all and you will know that when
your combing stops bring out lice that you have cleared them all.
Finding a live louse on the sheets is quite unusual, they don't
come out of the hair that often and the eggs never do. My honest
advice is that you put 100% effort into removing them from the hair
and just do a regular wash of the linen. Forget the rest of the
house because they don't spread around like dog and cat fleas. Anything
you can't wash just put in a polythene bag and put in to the freezer
overnight.
Your school is pretty normal! Head lice have always been around
and are perfectly natural for kids. Your kids will always come into
contact with other kids that have head lice.
Head lice recognise human scent so they know they are on a suitable
host. If we disguise that scent with NITMIX they fail to recognise
your child as a good place to live and breed and leave them alone.
They still get the odd little visitor because kids are always interacting
with each other but they don't turn into a full blown case of head
lice.
Hope this helps.
We have started from here thousands of times, you will crack this
problem very soon.
Regards
John Owen
